Rawkin’ Welcome Week 2008 Schedule

Friday August 22:
  •  5:15 pm: Freshman SOAR Reunion- Fountain
    Reunite with your friends & SOS from SOAR, and grab some dinner in the Caf!
  • 7:00 pm: Women’s soccer vs. Coastal Carolina University
  • Help cheer your Spartans to victory!
  • 8:00 pm: “Party like a RAWKstar”- EUC, Cone Ballroom
    Be totally cool at your first Spartan dance party!

Saturday August 23:
  • 8:30 am-12:00 pm--Volunteer Service Projects
    Sign up for a Service Project with the Office of Leadership & Service-Learning, and give back to the Greensboro Community.  Advanced registration is required; see the OLSL website for details!
  • Get Set Saturday
  • 11:00 am-- Freshman Summer Reading Project- Group Discussion & Luncheon
    Did you pick up a Summer Reading Project book at SOAR? If so, join us for an exciting group discussion with a faculty member, and your peers! Check Blackboard or your UNCG email account for your room assignment. Don’t forget to bring your book! After the discussion, enjoy a free lunch and receive your Freshman Summer Reading Project t-shirt!
  • 2:00- 5:00 pm-- Shop ‘til you Drop
    Take a free roundtrip shuttle to pick up last minute items at our local Wal-Mart Supercenter!
  • 5:00- 6:00 pm-- Out-of-State student reception
    Meet and mingle with other new and returning out-of-state students! Have the opportunity to talk with returning students who have already made a successful transition to life at UNCG. Begin to build friendships based on your common bond - that you are not from North Carolina!
  • 7:00 pm-- Comedy/Hypnotist Show- EUC, Auditorium
  • 7:00 pm-- Men’s exhibition soccer game vs. Gardner Webb University
    Help cheer your Spartans to victory!

Sunday August 24:
  • 2:00 pm-- Women’s soccer vs. Utah University
    Help cheer your Spartans to victory!
  • 4:00 pm-- The Chancellor’s New Student Convocation, Aycock Auditorium
    Welcome in the academic year with the Class of 2012! Join the Chancellor, faculty, and staff of UNCG as they welcome you to the University.
  • 5:00 pm-- Charlie’s Block Party, Fountain/Caf
    Celebrate the beginning of the fall semester with the Class of 2012!  There will be food, giveaways, music, and a pep rally!

Monday August 25:
  • 11:00- 3:00--Fall Kick-off, College Avenue
    Check out our biggest student organization fair: free giveaways, free food, and lots of great information about how to get involved!

Tuesday August 26:
  • 7:00 pm--Campus Activities Board Speaker, EUC Auditorium

Wednesday August 27:
  • 6:00 pm--Monster’s “Ultimate Road Trip,” EUC Auditorium
    Join UNCG on the “Ultimate Road Trip” to learn about how to make the most of your college career— the journey starts now!

Thursday August 28:
  • 11:00 am - 2:00 pm--Commuter Student Deli
    Commuter students: Stop on by the EUC with your student ID to get a free lunch, and visit with other commuters!
  • 1:00-4:00 pm—Office of Multicultural Affairs open house, EUC, Multicultural Resource Center
    Visit with staff from the Office of Multicultural Affairs to learn about their services and activities!

Friday August 29:
  • 7:00 pm-- Women’s soccer game vs. George Mason University
    Help cheer your Spartans to victory against George Mason!
