- Q. How can I get my student’s records including grades and schedules?
- A. Federal law prohibits the release of grades or academic record information to anyone but the student without special permission from the student. An exception to this law exists if the legal guardian of the student submits evidence that he/she declared the student as a dependent on his/her most recent Federal Income Tax form. Grades and Schedules can be found on UNCGenie, the student web portal. If your student chooses to give you his/her login ID and password, you can find this information through UNCGenie.
- Q. Why aren’t grades mailed to students?
- A. There are now faster, lest costly, and more convenient ways to access grades. Grades can be accessed using UNCGenie. However, a student may request that a copy of his/her grades be sent home by contacting the Registrar’s Office.
- Q. Who do we contact for a letter verifying that our child is a student at UNCG?
- A. Enrollment verification can be printed from UNCGenie. For the complete steps on how to obtain this certificate, please visit: http://www.uncg.edu/reg/Services/ev_index.html.
- Q. How do I get a copy of my student’s transcript?
- A. A parent or spouse can obtain a copy of a student’s transcript only if the student provides him/her with written, dated, and signed permission for release of the transcript. The person picking up the transcript must also provide photo ID. A student’s records may be released to a legal guardian who submits evidence that he/she declares the student as a dependent on his/her most recent Federal Income Tax form.
